Colombia is a country full of emotions, through its people, landscapes, rhythms, cities, culture, the country let you feel some kind of energy that can be perceive in every corner and takes us to live lifetime experiences.

Whether you go to the coast to practice nautical sports, in the mountains and natural parks trek or hike, its rivers, desserts, this amazing country offers everything, to everyone, everywhere. Colombia is a hub for extremes sports and outdoors activities, among all these activities we find paragliding, a lifetime experience in the skies, Colombia offers different places in order to do paragliding.

1. BOGOTA, CUNDINAMARCA

1. The first place that I recommend, is Bogotá, the Colombian’s capital is surround it by some cool and perfect sites to go on paragliding, such places are: Sopó and Guasca, this two places are located approximately 40 minutes away from the cosmopolitan city, these two villages are perfect to do paragliding due to their proximity to Bogotá and their whether which allows to practice in any moment. To arrive to Sopó, you can either take your on vehicle or public transportation (Sistema Transmilenio) from northern station.

2. VALLE DEL CAUCA

Valle del Cauca depart department is located to the south west of Colombia, its capital city, Cali, known as the “sucursal del cielo”, is one among the many destinations to go in this beautiful part of the country. And in the previous case, Cali (the capital city) is no the place to go practice paragliding, it is another place and its name is “Territorio paraiso”.

Located between Cali and Palmira, Territorio Paraiso is the closest thing to paradise; calm, nice whether, autochthonous, with an incredible diversity and wild life, polite people, this place offers paragliding schools, which provide, of course, courses for those who desire to practice this sport in a more professional way.

3. FLYBOARD

Let’s go now a little bit more to the north, we arrive to Medellin, the city of the “eternal spring” as it is known by Colombia’s inhabitants.

In this part of the country I recommend the “Matasano hill”, its incredible panoramic view over the city and its thermic streams of air allows to do amazing flights that will take your breath away, as in the other places, here you can also find schools and instructing centers in order to do paragliding.

4. SAN GIL, SANTANDER

In the Santander department, to the east of the country, near to Venezuela, it is located, what is called, the capital of extreme sports of Colombia. San Gil, in this municipality we find the “Chicamocha Cayon”, an impressive mountainous formation, located between the departments of Boyacá and Santander, nearby to the city of Bucaramanga. This massive canyon, is so magnificent, that even before flying over it your breath it going to be taken away.

As the other places, here at this extreme sport main city, you will also be able to get lessons and 20 to 30 minutes’ flights over the canyon’s mountains.
